Olympic Flag Competition
Merryhills School are part of the GET SET network celebrating London 2012.
The network has awarded Merryhills 10 places to visit the Olympic Park site.
In order to select 10 pupils we decided to run a competition to design our own flag to fly at our own sports events. This competition was open to pupils in years 4, 5 and 6 as the children have to be 8 years and older to visit the site.
The children were also asked to write a paragraph explaining the reasons for their design.
We were very fortunate for Paralympic Gold Medalist Tom Aggar to vist Merryhills and choose our finalists and winner.
Tom won his medal at the Beijing Olympics, he is also a world champion and world record holder.
The Enfield Gazette also paid us a visit and our news will be displayed in their paper.
Our finalists are Emily, Belle, Harsh, Akash, Zuhir, Alexander, Lilly, Sophie and Annissa. Eloise in Elm Class is our final winner. Well done Eloise and all of our finalists. We hope you have a wonderful day visiting the Olympic Park site.
