Merryhills Primary School

Communication

At Merryhills we communicate with parents/carers in a variety of ways.

Our School calendar is available to view on our website.

We have a newsletter from our Headteacher, Mr Hudson, which goes out every two weeks. The newsletter incorporates key dates and information relating to news and events that are happening at school.

All correspondence is sent to you by e-mail. Please ensure the school office has your current email address.  General queries can be addressed to Rachel de la Fuente at office@merryhills.org.uk

We have a text messaging service which is used to pass on various information including events and reminders.

If your child’s class is taking part in a school trip/event, an information letter will be sent to you  by e-mail giving details of the venue, cost, arrangements for the day etc. Parental consent must be given for school trips. Please ensure you follow the instructions on your letter regarding how consent should be given. Your child will not be able to participate without your permission and will remain in school.

If we have any changes to the days events ie an after school club has to be cancelled or school closed due to snow, we will send a text message as early as possible.

 Security and Safety

We aim to provide a secure environment for pupils and staff. All visitors to the school should report to the main entrance office to sign in. A visitors badge must be displayed for the duration of their visit. When leaving they must sign out and return their badge.

The Car Park is for staff only. Parents and visitors must park safely on the roads outside the school.

As a Healthy School, we promote walking to school. If driving, we remind you that you must not park on the zigzag lines near the school entrances during restricted times.

We ask all parents and visitors to park sensibly and safely around our school. Please adhere to the parking signs and yellow lines. Please DO NOT park over residents driveways and be mindful of where you leave your vehicle.

There is parking available at The Jolly Farmers pub car park, on the corner of Enfield Road and  Links Side. The pub has kindly offered parents the use of their car park at the begininng and end of the day.

 Complaints Process

We hope that your child will have a very happy and rewarding time at Merryhills, but occasionally something might go wrong. If you have any concerns about your child’s education you should first talk to their class teacher who should be able to resolve the matter. If, however, you are still not satisfied you should speak to one of the Assistant / Deputy Heads to see if they can support you in finding a resolution, and if that fails speak directly to the Headteacher.

We have a written complaints process, which is available from the school office and includes information about contacting the Chair of Governors and/or Local Authority.
