Y6: Westminster Abbey

Last week, Year 6 enjoyed their trip to Westminster Abbey where they had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the Tudor period; they visited the tombs of many important monarchs including Henry Tudor, Elizabeth of York, Elizabeth 1, May I and Anne of Cleeves. To get into role for their writing in class, they ate lunch in the cloisters and visited the chapel house where monks spent most of their days prior to the Dissolution of the Monasteries in 1536. This term, they will be learning about Romeo and Juliet and so - during their guided tour - visited a statue dedicated to Shakespeare. After their visit, we received a brilliant email from their education team: We have just hosted some of your wonderful Year 6 students at Westminster Abbey. ‘I wanted to let you know what a brilliant impression they made on the team here - everyone was so polite and well behaved and also so enthusiastic and knowledgeable. It really has been a pleasure to show them around the Abbey.’
